WCAA of Indiana Chapter Gives Back
WCAA members love giving back to their communities! The Indiana Chapter of WCAA recently completed a service project benefiting the Gennesaret House, a health recovery home for homeless women located in Indianapolis, IN.
The chapter meticulously planned and coordinated efforts by going through their own fabric stashes and bringing their materials to Silk Mountain Creations, one of their member’s workrooms. There chapter members were able to use the materials to coordinate four bedding ensembles, including coverlets and throw pillows. Each member took the selected fabrics home to complete elements of each ensemble and then returned the final products at a chapter meeting two months later. In addition to fabrics and pillows being donated from the Indiana Chapter members, many also purchased toiletries and other small items for the residents of the home. The chapter was able to purchase coordinating sheet sets from funds set aside for charity in their chapter budget.
When WCAA of Indiana Chapter members delivered the items to the Gennesaret House in April, Tawanna Johnson, Case Manager, was overwhelmed with the number of items the chapter had provided. The residents of the house were thrilled with their new bed furnishings!
Members making a difference by sharing talents and passion for the benefit of their local communities makes us #WCAAProud! This was a fulfilling project for the WCAA of Indiana Chapter and created an awareness of the Gennesaret House and the need for donated soft furnishings by local charities. As an added bonus, chapter members were able to utilize previously unused fabrics in their workrooms for the benefit of others!
